Dutch elm disease was confirmed in Edmonton in August 2024. City council received an update on October 23, confirming that the disease has not spread beyond the initial four infected trees detected in the Killarney neighbourhood. Crews have since removed 25 trees as a precaution and continue assessments. Residents are encouraged to monitor elm trees and report concerns via 311 or online.
